Is entering sweepstakes an obsession or just a great hobby?

       I presume it would all depend on how you participate. I’d like to think that I’m a hobbyist, but I enter far too many giveaways (so I’m told) to be considered such. My husband kids with me about having the biggest giveaway OCD known to man…I guess I can’t argue with him on that, if I don’t get my daily fix (150-200 entries in a day) I tend to be a horribly cranky person.

       How about you decide…let me give you a few examples of a typical day; I wake up around 6:15 am (I usually push the snooze button 2 times before eventually getting up) then it’s time to get everyone else up and going. Once they’ve all left the house I start up the computer, brew my coffee, brush my teeth, put in my eyes (contacts), step outside for a few sips of coffee with my morning cigarette (sorry…bad vice, I know BUT I only do it outside…I’m a hypocritical smoker (can’t stand the smell)) then I’m in for the morning. I usually check my email first since that normally takes a few hours.  I get about 170-200 emails (win notifications and such). Once that is complete I’m off to the internet.

       My home page is set for Online-Sweepstakes, but I also have (added to my favorites) Prizey, Mom giveaways, Sweepstakes today and Shopping bookmarks (there are more, but I’m just listing a few today). I start out with the “ending today” page and work through the other categories from there. I usually take a break (after I’ve entered at least 50) and write a post or read some blogs (just to break up the monotony some) but then I’m back to the entries again. This usually repeats throughout the day until around 10 PM when I’m off to bed (only to do it again the next and the next and the next day). When everyone is home and has been fed, taken care of and loved on, it repeats. I know there are people out there like me, aren’t there? There’s gotta be!!!

    I guess it’s pretty sad (or at least can be) because I have no social life aside from the occasional chatting with an online buddy every great once in a while. I’m just not good at conversation; maybe because I don’t know what to say…I’m just more of a babbler (if you can’t tell alreadyJ). I guess you can say that this is my outlet (with its many rewards).    

So, what do you think? Am I obsessed or just an extreme hobbyist? Do you have a similar tale to tell? What got you “addicted” to sweeping? I mean let’s face it, you’ve gotta have a little bit of an addiction to this, especially if you’ve won something that made you want more.

Signing up for RSS feeds (via email and/or newsletter) keeps you up to date with all those giveaways around the blog sphere. It is also the number one way to increase your chance of winning future giveaways.

     If you’ve ever signed up for a giveaway, chances are, you’ve seen that little/ slightly needed stipulation that you sign up for their RSS feed for an entry into their giveaway…no harm done, in fact, I recommend you do it too. I personally know how hard it is to find a sponsor to host a giveaway (being a semi-newbie to the blog world/but not to sweeping). What everyone needs to know is that the more reader’s and commenter’s a blog has, the more likely it is that the blog owner will be sponsored for bigger and more costly prizes in the future which in turn benefits the reader. So, while you think it might be another, “crap-again!” type of feeling; remember that it takes a lot of work to host a giveaway, the least we (as participants) could do is sign up for their feed; the rewards are great all the way around.
