Onto day three…hasn’t it been fun so far? We are just a few days into this event and already, we’ve learned so much about our little ones; it’s fantastic, really!!!!

Gotta Love his humor...
Today is all about the MR STRONG in your home. To me, MR STRONG can fit into a whole number of categories and can come from girls and boys alike. The “strength” I’m talking about isn’t just a physical attribute. It can be a cognitive or emotional strength too.
For today’s post; I’m going to take the cognitive approach…
The MR STRONG in my home is a sixteen year old smarty that feels he’s never “good enough for anything” (his thoughts). This could be solely my fault because he’s heard me down myself time and time again. I am trying hard to refrain from showing any self-doubt around my kids because I see what it’s done to my oldest- CJ. I understand, now, that the way I torture myself trickles down to them- my three kids and how they perceive themselves.
We as parents do all that we can to boast our children’s self confidence. We encourage them to do their best and I’m sure we all praise them as much as possible, but, no matter what, sometimes it’s hard. It’s unfortunate really, because these kids can do so much if they just believed they could.
CJ, my son, has a gift for being the smartest “history buff” I know. He’s also one handsome young fellow and he deserves all the world can give him. But how can I possibly make him realize the strengths he has if he doesn’t see these strengths himself? It’s hard, but I do all I can to continue to talk him up, to praise him and remind him, daily, about his greatnesses. I feel that this is something that I can do as a parent.

Back in the day...
Every kid has that MR STRONG within them; whether they’re three or thirty three- fifteen or fifty five. Sometimes we just need to help them find it.

My daughter is strong because she doesn’t give up. She tries her hardest to do things like ride her bike and she doesn’t realize that just by not quitting, she is strong! I always encourage her to try her best at everything she does.
My oldest sometimes thinks that she isn’t smart enough if she is having a tough time in school. We remind her that she can do anything that she sets her mind to and constantly praise her!
