I love books, I love to read and I consider myself to be an avid reader. When Barb came to me with this book I was all over it. Now granted it’s geared for young adults and I’m not quite sure what that means considering I’m almost 30. Either way, I was rip rearing to go.
Before I started, I found that there were 2 other books before this one. So I went out to the local book store to find and buy them (to get the history in the right perspective ya know). Which is also why this one (review and giveaway) has taken a little longer than necessary to get out.
What an imagination Frank Beddor has! It’s a brutally twisted version of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. I was sold in the 1st book I picked up, The Looking Glass Wars, and then followed up with Seeing Redd. Now with ArchEnemy I’m looking forward to picking Hatter Madigan series as well.
From the inside book jacket:
Imagine this…. The power of imagination has been lost! Now it’s all about the artillery as AD52s, crystal shooters, spike jacked tumblers and orb cannons are unleashed in a war of weapons and brute force as Alyss searches wildly for the solution to the disaster that has engulfed her queendom. Arch declares himself King of Wonderland. The moment is desperate enough for Alyss to travel back to London for answers, where Arch’s assassins are threatening Alice Liddell and her family. But after coming to the Liddell’s assistance, Alyss discovers herself trapped in a conundrum of evaporating puddles. The shimmering portals that exist to transport her home through the Pool of Tears are disappearing! What is happening in Wonderland? Deep within the Valley of Mushrooms the Caterpillar Oracles issue this prophecy: “Action shall be taken to ensure the safety of the Heart Crystal. For Everqueen.” But who is Everqueen? As the metamorphosis of Wonderland unfolds, enemies become allies, bitter rivals face off, and Queen Alyss and Redd Heart must both confront their pasts in this thrilling, no-holds-barred conclusion to the New York Times bestselling series.
As you can see, the characters mentioned in the synopsis are familiar to those who have a history with Alice in Wonderland. His portrayal is an amazingly wicked tale that I wasn’t able to put down. As I said earlier, this is the 3rd book in this trilogy. I think it would be a fabulous addition to anyone’s collection. Any teenager and even adult would find this to be a great read.

One of my favorite books was Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe. I have LOTS of favorite books, though! The giveaway book sounds….interesting. I think my husband would enjoy it. He and I are both young adult book junkies.
