The Army of the RepublicThis is just a novel, right?

Barb came to me with this for review, and it perked my interest. Now it took me a couple of days to get back into my reading mode, as I wasn’t ready to sit down all day with all the things I have to do before the Christmas break when the kids get out. So with a sigh I resolved to get started. OMG!!!! This is so book is so scary. How far away are we really from total chaos running rampant in our country? How twisted is our government?

Are we really blind to what is going on behind the closed federal doors? I’m not sure what to say or where to start with this. I keep wondering after reading it, “Are we already on the brink of becoming a socialist country?” Holy Cow!!! I’d so be in the street marching to overthrow a corrupt government. So before I go on a political rant about where we stand currently or where we’re heading, here is the synopsis from the back cover of The Army of the Republic.

In a revolutionary America at the edge of our imagination, two men are faced off in a struggle for the future. On one side is Lando, a twenty-something urban guerilla whose obsession with saving the country drives his Army of the Republic deeper into a violent campaign of bombing and assassination. On the other is James Sands, a billionaire entrepreneur so determined to preserve his privileges that he unwittingly hires death squads to hunt down and murder his own family. Against a backdrop of mass demonstrations and corporate armies, this thrilling kaleidoscopic novel explores the deeper issues of love, family, and lethal rebellion.

Ok, so reading this novel has given me more of a wake-up call than I expected. Hell, I wasn’t even expecting a wake-up call. I keep telling myself it’s just a novel, but I’m not buying it completely. The way Stuart Archer Cohen has written this book makes you truly wonder what is “really” going on here. America is so close to this edge The Army of the Republic portrayed, it’s freighting. If anyone you know or even you yourself enjoys a political crime thriller, RUN, don’t walk to the local bookstore and pick up a copy of this novel. I’m still in shock by the way it ended. I see a movie deal in the future for Stuart. And I’ll be there opening day with ticket in hand; waiting for the best seat. Kudos Stuart! When is does the next one come out???

I can’t believe there aren’t more people interested in this. I’m in Canada, so I can’t win it, but am shocked there aren’t more entries for this book!

    Good luck Renee!
