Well that’s just great, just flippin’ great! All I need now is a whole other set of books to be addicted to. It’s not like I don’t have enough on my plate to deal with. Now I’m going to be on the hunt for, and will wait for a series to develop (and it is going to be a series).

If you’re new to Blogfully, then I’ll tell you what everyone else already knows about me. I’m a freak when it comes to crime/thrillers/horror/supernatural/ etc. genre types of books. For those of you that are becoming familiar with me cause your one of our beloved “regulars”, you already know this. This book- is, in fact, classified as a supernatural romance.

I love, love, loved this book! As I said earlier and would totally recommend it to anyone hooked in that genre type (supernatural romance). I won’t give anything more away than the links to find this book and what I predict to be an absolutely amazing series to come.

The Paris Vendetta

When Barb gave me this for review, I recognized Steve Berry’s work instantly. I’ve already read The Templar Legacy and The Alexandria Link, so I am familiar with his work. As I say often, I love reading thriller/suspense. That love travels to the thriller/suspense type movies as well.

Cotton Malone seems to be a trade mark character for Steve Berry. I’ve researched 5 other books from Berry, and, Cotton Malone is a feature in some of those as well.

I quite enjoyed the pictures that were being painted for me as I turned every page. I personally think I’d be completely overwhelmed to know or even see such wealth that these people have and throw around. Oh man and the greed…, it makes me sick knowing there are really people out there that can’t get enough of it.

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. I will be seeking out the other books that he has written and will wait for the one that he is currently writing.

Well first off- I’m not the type of person that generally reads the “self-help” genre, in which case, I believe I am able to give a pretty “diplomatic” opinion of this one.

I must say; Gabrielle Bernstein makes some very good points and gives great tips on how to make your life more fulfilling. With that said though, it’s also common sense. I know that a lot of people need to read something or be told- better yet, guided to that slap in the face light at the end of the tunnel. I prefer to hear it or discover it on my own.

I sit on that fine line of either being a realist and/or a pessimist; depending on the situation, but for the most part, I’m a realist just nowhere near the bright colored fantasy world of the ever loving optimist. Don’t get me wrong- I’m not a “hater”, but I refuse to be run over. I had, I guess what you could call a wickedly abusive childhood that spilled over into my self-destructive teen years before finally coming into adulthood scarred for life. By the way I’m not throwing a pity party I just want to make sure you know where I’m coming from.

As I said she makes some really good point and gives great tips…but, there are just some things I can’t agree with. The biggest one is forgiveness, and with what I dealt with as a child there is no freakin’ way “that” would ever happen. Now I know it’s not healthy to be like that. I’m not an idiot but H – E – double hockey sticks NO.

I will give it and you this. It is a great book for those who need pointers for the obvious. What I mean by that is, you know how you can lose, let’s say your sunglasses. You search and search everywhere, even checking the freezer ( I know some of you out there know what I’m talking about LOL) but cannot for the life of you see what’s right in front of your face or on top of your head. Then you get this revelation and are like- oh, duh. This book will totally spell it out for you and give you that “duh” feeling. I’ve got that just by reading the preface and then the rest of it opened me up to more in depth and a different way of thinking. I’m sold. I liked it bunches and would recommend it to any one that seems like they just can’t get out from underneath that rain cloud.

THEY’RE YOUR PARENTS TOO!

How Siblings Can Survive Their Parents’ Aging without Driving Each Other Crazy

Are you of the age where your parents are going to need part or full time care? Do you have siblings that are estranged or too far away? Are you not ready to take on this inevitable part of your life?

I think this book can help you. Although I am a ways off from having to come to terms with my mother’s aging and potential care and or becoming her care provider, this book can be a great tool to help you through what Francine Russo calls the ”twilight” phase in life.

I decided when I had my kids; when my time came, I was going to put myself either in some sort of home or hire myself help. I refuse to be a burden on my children. I don’t want to be one of those bitter a-holes of an elder that drives her kids’ nuts. I just won’t do it. So long as I have my wits about me, they will be free to live and just be themselves. On the other hand, if I don’t, I want them to be able to handle it with a phone call. I only hope that I do a good enough job now so that they feel compelled to visit me before I go.

I love to write and I do a lot, or at least I used to write a ton of poetry. Some were scandalous, some were hallucinatory and some were full of hate and rage. In turn; I love to read and interpret poetry into my own use for my own device.

Here is a pocket or purse sized book of sonnets and what I would call explanations of them. Here is the synopsis from the back of this pint sized book:

These forty-eight life-changing sonnets by classic and modern poets- from William Shakespeare to Mark Sanford- chronicle the typical journey from attraction and fever to anguish and enlightenment. Hidden meanings are unveiled by anthologist John Wareham, who also distills and dissects sonnets from the e-mailed love missives from the Mark Sanford Appalachian Trail affair, transcripts from the John and Elizabeth Edward media meltdown, the infamous Charles and Camilla cell phone conversation, and the BBC interview of Diana Spencer, Bill and Hillary Clinton also make cameo appearances.

It was a strange little book of sonnets and I don’t exactly agree with some of the things that are said, but it’s definitely a different way to look at things (for me anyways). So with that being said pick it up and indulge yourself in some “illicit love” from afar. You might actually be able to relate to some of it.
