What are your Mondays like? I know mine are usually very hectic. I’m the one that wakes all the kids, wakes the husband and gets everyone out the door so that no one is late for school or work.

My Monday routines usually start at 6:15am; I turn on all the bedroom lights so that the little ones can start waking, head down stairs to start  my coffee, head back upstairs to brush my teeth (giving them a few more minutes to wake up) and then it’s all about kissing, hugging and motivating, for everyone, to get everyone up and ready. If I don’t “motivate” them in the mornings- they all end up being cranky and it just makes for a bad morning (and you know we don’t want that). Normally, by the time everyone has left the house, it’s 7:20am (school starts at 7:45).

At this time, I can finally pour myself a cup of coffee, start my computer and get working. That is, until my husband walks in the door after dropping the kids off at school. Usually, he likes to talk for a little while before he starts working.

Sometimes my Mondays seem to lag on and on…and on. I just can’t seem to get anything accomplished. Other times, my Mondays go by so freakin’ fast I don’t know where the day went and end up, again, not getting anything accomplished (LOL)…I just have to face the facts- I can’t win on Mondays. It’s either too hectic or too “blah!”

Today, however, worked out to my advantage. Although I should have already had my first “Monday Moments” post completed, I’ve been busy keeping the kids entertained (first official day of spring break) and making sure they don’t kill each other. I was at a major loss because I was basically at a loss. I couldn’t find anything to write about. I desperately wanted something to share, but nothing was happening…luckily, as the day’s gone by I have found a story to share. How’s this for a Monday?:

As I was writing this feature, I received a phone call from a dear friend. As my procrastinating self would have it, I answered the phone to chat (rather than work-LOL). It was awfully loud in the house (TV and kids), so I decided to step out front. I sat on the bench outside and all of the sudden I hear this loud humming sound. I looked up and notice this huge swarm of bees flying above our truck. I looked around for a second and there it was, this hugely gigantic bee gathering on one of the branches of our tree. Here’s what it looked like…

BEE Swarm closeup  BEE SwarmBEE Swarm HUGE

In an instant, I told my friend to hold on (actually having to hang up cause of the drama). I ran inside, hollered at hub to look out and see all the bees I saw. He of course grabbed the camera and ran out front and started filming and shooting as many pictures as he could (these were the best ones). We called our local city “vector center” to come out and get rid of them (for fear of one of the kids getting stung). An hour and a half rolls by and still no sign of help.

After two hours of waiting and still no sign of help arriving, I took a step outside to see if they were still swarming around. They were gone. Absolutely nothing was there. My neighbor didn’t even here them buzz off and he was sitting up front the whole time. He said he never heard them leave (?). They were just gone. Interesting right?

Well, anyways, Vector control finally showed up and we chatted a bit. He said that bees do that. See, there wasn’t a nest or a cone. The bees were just hanging out to “feel it out”. The bees wanted to see if they wanted to take root in our front tree. Thank goodness they decided not too. Only a few bees remain but it’s nothing to be alarmed about (he said).

I tell you; I’m so glad they decided not to stick around. I was really scared there for a minute. I don’t like bees and run around like a chicken with their head cut off when they come around me…yuck!!!! Just the thought kills me- LOL!

For the next four weeks, (until April 5th) I will be posting a quick “Monday Moments” post. Each Monday will feature a different moment. For the first post; since today is Monday; I want to make it simple. I simply want to know about your Monday’s in general. Are they hectic, do they drag on, what are they like? What do you do to get through them?

Here’s how the giveaway will work. On March 15 (today), March 22, March 29th and April 5th I will feature a new Monday Moment. You are automatically entered into the giveaway (at the end of this campaign) if you contribute to the weekly post(s); on or all (via commenting), sharing a “Monday Moment” on your blog (linking back here) or sharing this post with friends and family via twitter, FaceBook, twitter, etc.. Amazing isn’t it … how we sometimes think we know exactly how our day is going to go and an insect smaller than a quarter can turn things all around. I have done some detective work and I think I know why they were waiting around your home. They must have heard about your sweet prize pack. What they didn’t know was the rules for obtaining the prize pack. LOL!

Now for my Monday … I got up this morning at 5:30 AM and decided to paint our bedroom. I moved everything to the center of room. I took all the pictures down from the wall and patched all the holes. I laid down my painter’s canvas on the rug and proceeded to paint the walls a satin white. Upon completion … or at least I thought I was done … I elected to paint a second coat of paint. The walls look like new walls. I gathered up all my supplies cleaned my paint brushes and rollers and then swept the entire carpet and moved everything back into place. I try to walk everyday so I got on my tennis shoes and walked 2.2 miles. I think maybe I got enough exercise for today. I have a few muscles that are telling me that I got plenty. I showered and then wrote a poem for my Blog and now I am posting a comment on your Blog. Not typical Monday, but a productive one!

After reading about your busy day- I’m pretty well pooped (LOL)!

I wish I could walk that distance right now. After 8 days, I’m still kicking my feet up as I continue to try and get rid of all this water retention (ARGH)…Everyone but the doctor is telling me I have gout. I’ve researched my symptoms and have associated them all with this diagnosis- the only one that doesn’t believe it is the dang doctor (go figure).

Great news on your productive day- you’ve got to share your blog address so that all of us can read your awesome poetry. I absolutely love reading poetry!

Steve made me laugh with his comment about why the bees were sticking around :) I know as one of God’s creatures that a bee has an important job to do, but I am like you and wish they would do it SOMEWHERE ELSE instead of around my family.
Anyway, my Monday….well, I got my daughter and myself ready for Kindermusik class which lasted 45 looong minutes because my daughter was kinda hyper and didn’t want to listen; she just wanted to laugh and twirl around in circles *sigh*. Then we had lunch at Cracker Barrel and went shopping. We came home; she napped while I did a little housework and checked my emails. Wow, my life is really boring when typed out in front of me!

Renee I am sure your daughter keeps you very busy and that alone is lot of work and very important work so I would say your life is far from boring. As for God’s creatures … I agree they too have a very important job as well. They just need to buzz around some where else! Have a GREAT day!

    @renee:
Renee, I agree with Steve- your job is far from “boring”. I think we moms have the toughest job around. I mean; though dads have an important roll, its the moms that keep the family happy, fed, cleaned, loved and pampered. It’s the momns that keep the house sound and stable- without us, well, there’d be chaos in the midst. There’d be who knows what lurking at every corner- kids would go hungry on pop-corn and hotdogs as their diets (haha).
LOL…our jobs are very fullfilling, very un-dull and most importantly very, very rewarding!!!! You are a wonderful mother and watching your daughter twirl around in circles is a wonderfully funny thought to have given us. I could just imagine you with your shoulders shrug low with that big sigh- LOL…just too funny. You’ve done good- she’s got a lot of character and spunk by the way it sounds! ;)

Mondays usually go by pretty quick. I have a fairly hectic job, and Mondays are the day I prepare things for the week, so I just run around all day doing little chores and, before I know it, it’s time to go home.

My Monday’s drag on and I get through them by trying to find something positive in the day. I focus on the positive and getting my work done and that makes the day go a little faster. A treat from Starbucks also helps.
