Everyone knows that the movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief are out in theaters everywhere. I haven’t taken my kids to see it just yet but it definitely looks cool. We got the game in for review and my kids haven’t been able to put it down. I was finally able to sneak it away from them after they went to bed. Well let me start by saying I have always loved RPG’s (role playing games).

About the game:

Synopsis: Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out school – but that’s the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy’s Greek Mythology texts and into his life – and they’re not happy. Zeus’s lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy’s family, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Rated E for Everyone 10 + for Fantasy Violence

ARP: $29.99

It’s rated E for everyone 10+ for fantasy violence but in my opinion it’s only cause of the dialog aspect of it. My 7 year old navigated it just fine and is having a blast with it. He gets super excited when he unlocks new abilities and beats the rivals he is fighting against. When I got a hold of it after a considerable wait from my 3 kiddos playing it; I enjoyed it. As I said earlier it’s easy to navigate, the world map, your items, characters and attacks. Now they did really good playing this game, I on the other hand, didn’t do so well. I couldn’t get the shield up fast enough to block any attacks. I’m not sure what it is about kids but their hand eye coordination is much better than mine. Either that or I’m just getting old.  8)

It wouldn’t have been my 1st (or my kids 1st) choice as a game for them, to buy, but we have thoroughly enjoyed playing it. But, if your kiddos have seen the movie or read the book; they should enjoy this one. FYI: it is of my opinion that the younger can play it too, as in the younger kids ( 7 to 13).

Percy Jackson and the Olympians looks like a fun game. We currently only have Xbox, but I have found many times the programmers will make their games available across many platforms. I currently have several Xbox games that we haven’t won and even more games on my Iphone that seem to a bit smarter than me; therefore, I have plenty of time to wait for this game to come available for the Xbox. GREAT review CR.
