How fun, how dark, how grim…how freakin’ hilarious Invader ZIM is (for the big kids). I have a sixteen year old son…and those are the words straight from this kid’s mouth!
The minute I told CJ we’d be receiving Season 1 and 2, of Invader ZIM for review, he practically flipped. He was so excited. He said that he hadn’t seen this show in so long and that he couldn’t wait to get it. Of course, this was followed by a few thank you’s and a very special- “I love your job!”…how sweet!
If you’ve never seen or heard of Invader ZIM, you’ve probably got kids that have not quite hit there teens yet. Honestly; I feel bad, but, through all the years of watching Nickelodeon, I had never heard of him either. Maybe I did and never paid attention to it. None the less. It’s a pretty wacky show for the older “teen-ish” kids. Not so much for the younger ones. I mean, yes, they can watch it but I don’t think that they’d tune into the show like the older ones will.
This show is not rated, but as a mom- to another; I’d have to give it a “Rated Teen”. It’s a great series and I even found myself tuning into this cartoon, but because of the grimness behind it, I don’t think the younger ones would understand. My daughters watched it for an episode or two and soon lost interest. My son on the other hand has been glued to the tube. Everyday he comes home and begins playing it where he left off. He said he’s going to continue to do this until all DVDs have been played. Then, he says, he might just start it again.
Invader ZIM is exclusive to Amazon only. So if you really want to get this set (season 1, season 2 or both) you’ll have to log into your Amazon account to get it, but it’s not released yet so you’ll actually have to pre-order it. I think that’s why my son’s enjoying this so much. He knows that none of his friends have it- yet! DVD-R NOTE: This product is manufactured on demand when ordered from www.Amazon.com
About Invader ZIM:
Invader ZIM is sent by the Almighty Tallest leaders of the planet IRK on a mission of doom- disguised as an earthling child, albeit one with a green complexion that he explains away as a “skin condition.” Accompanied by GIR, his faithful, intelligence-gathering robot who’s camouflaged in a zippered dog suit, Invader ZIM has come to assume control on Earth and its annoying inhabitants. But alas, a wrench has been tossed into ZIM’s devious plan. A wrench with a name: Dib, a ‘pitiful human’ obsessed with the paranormal. As the only human who recognizes SIM as the potential threat that he is. Dib will stop at nothing to expose him.
Sounds funny already doesn’t it. I’m serious though, it does have a great story line, the characters are familiar, yet very unique (I think it has something to do with the voices. I hear them, I know them, I just cant place them). Either way. The show is definitely a cute (sorry, rockin’ cool one) and I’m even going to recommend it as I think it’d be something that even you adults can appreciate!

He and his “companion” robot-dog are quickly becoming a hot hit in my home; for me anyways. My son already loved him. I get a kick out of this little guy every time I watch it. He’s funny, thinks he’s above us (intellectually) and isn’t afraid to say it. If you’re looking for a few laughs. I recommend it!
Disclosure: I was gifted with a copy of Season 1 & 2 to help facilitate my review, via Nickelodeon, through the Karpel Group. The opinions expressed within this post are mine (unless stated otherwise). Thank you for reading!
