Tiger Eye Curse of the Riddle Box Game Review

Before I get started, I thought it’d be best to tell you that I was sent (for download) the early version of this game. That means that the version I got is not a very polished game- yet. The scenes where plots and storyboards would come up were still just black and white (pretty neat looking, but black & white just the same). There were a few games that were missing along with some of the messages that were supposed to tell me whether I completed a puzzle correctly or not, but, overall; I was able to gather a pretty good idea of what this game is like and will be.
My thoughts: Pretty interesting actually. The objective is one that I like a lot: search-and-find hidden pieces. Yes, I’m a sucker for these games (as most of you know). As you find these hidden pieces, new games with more jigsaw puzzles, puzzles, codes and such will pop up; giving you even more play that can be imagined. The game itself can last for hours. It was fun, entertaining and I really enjoyed the graphics.
The game comes from a previously released novel titled “Tiger Eye” from bestselling author Marjorie M. Liu. It’s divided up into two episodes. Curse of the Riddle Box corresponds to the first half of the book while the other episode corresponds to the second. You can purchase them as stand-alone games for $6.99, or buy the whole shebang for a little more. If you pre-order the game (releases on April 28th); you’ll have access to some extras. Just head over to this PRE-ORDER page for more details on what those packages provide.
THE STORY
![]()
Play as the beautiful and psychically-gifted Dela Reese, who is hurtled into an extraordinarily dangerous situation soon after purchasing an ancient riddle box in a Beijing dirt market. After Dela arrives back at her hotel room and manages to open the riddle box, she is shocked to encounter a gorgeous 7-foot tall warrior, who had been imprisoned in the box for 2,000 years. The warrior, Hari, has been cursed to serve as a slave to whomever opens the box. While Dela, a strong 21st century woman, is repulsed by the idea of controlling another human being, there are others who desperately seek the box’s power and will stop at nothing to obtain it. Help Dela escape assassins, win the respect and love of Hari, and lift the evil curse that strips Hari of his freedom. (source: http://passionfruitgames.com/tiger-eye)

Although I did not receive the finished product. I can still say that the game was worthy of playing. It really was fun, in a quiet and relaxing kind of way. In other words, it wasn’t timed so I was able to play it at my own speed. And that’s a good thing. Having three kids that swallow my attention is one thing, but adding a timed game to the mix could be disastrous. Oh, and as you can see by the screen shot above…there’s a lot of surface to cover in order to find those missing pieces (by the way; some of them are hidden very, very well). In closing; I do plan on purchasing the game for my PC. It’s worth having around when you’re looking for something to do, but don’t really want to do anything (LOL). Yes, it was fun.
Disclosure: I received a downloadable copy of this game as a member of the Game Review Network, for the purpose of my review (at no cost). The thoughts and opinions within this post are of my own and therefore, I claim no responsibility for those that feel different. Thank you.
