I’m an official Yoursphere Ambassador- YEAH!

Yoursphere banner Never in a million years would I have imagined being an active blogger. Up until 6 years ago, I didn’t even know what a computer was- much less, how to turn one on (LOL). It wasn’t important to me at that time and besides that, I couldn’t type to save my life and I couldn’t quite get the whole “mouse” thing. Seriously; I had no idea.

Fast forward to now; I’m quite the “Savvy Blogger”, or at least I try telling myself this everyday. :) Fortunately, this love I have for writing and blogging has spilled over onto the girls. So much so that they want to do the same things I do.  They want to be just like me (Lord help them) ;) . They want to write about their days- the good and the bad. They want to share the stories they write (along with their poems, songs and “quotes”). They want to meet kids from other places.

In a nut shell; they want to do it all (like me) and though I want to encourage this, I worry about the security and privacy issues, or lack of, on the net. I don’t want to subject them to anything dangerous- period. It’s scary enough having to worry about the horrible crap that happens outside our doors on a daily basis; so why would I want to add to my own stresses? My kids are my life and I need to consider their safety first. I couldn’t live with myself if I ever put my daughters (or son) in a situation that can hurt them. It’s my job to make sure their safe, both on and off the net and I intend to keep it that way.

With that said. I am so thrilled to be writing this post today. I was one of a select group of mom bloggers chosen to be an “official ambassadors” for a wonderful and secure spot, for kids, called Yoursphere. Yoursphere is a spot specifically geared for kids and teens. It’s one that resembles a sort of ning and/or forum style site, yet it’s a self contained personal space for kids; a safe, more secure place for kids. It’s practically everything I’d hoped for and more. I’m so tickled to be a part of this! I’ve already set up my account and the girls have been happily plugging away at their own personal spheres. They’ve been meeting tons of other kids and are eager to log in every day! They’ve even got a “work schedule” full of posts lined up. They want to stay busy and be just like me- I’m so proud.

Did I mention it’s FREE to register? It’s amazing. I mean- truly amazing. It’s a God send for my kids. It’s something I’d been looking for. It’s something the girls are thrilled about. To meet new kids. To express themselves. To have a space for them and other kids who share the same likes and most importantly- to be themselves. The great part is. Since I have my parents dashboard. I can see my child’s activities. I can see everything they’ve done, are doing, where they’ve posted, what sphere’s they’ve visited- you name it, I can see it! I can literally keep an eye on my kids anytime I want by simply visiting my dashboard. I’ve never seen anything like it.

If you have kids and teens in your home and you’d like more information about Yoursphere. Mary Kay Hoal (founder of Yoursphere) has also created a  “Yoursphere for parents” blog where she dedicates time to providing families the information and tools they need to help put their children’s internet and social networking safeties first.

Over the course of the next three months. I will post up new information about my kids experiences (without sharing too much). I will also write more about the founders of this great community and anything you’d be interested in reading about (just let me know).

PS- When setting up your free account; would you consider using my referral code? This referral code (YSMC-0016) will be used to help Mom Central and Mary Kay Hoal determine how you found them.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere. I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review
