This is a picture of my beautiful baby girl Piper (right) with her very, very best friend Kat (left). This picture was taken in their Pre-K class room. They had just finished performing in their Thanksgiving Day play and had to get a picture taken with each other; to remember always. This is what you’d call a “2 peas in a pod” friendship. They are inseparable to this day, even though they now live so far from each other.
There was a time though, before Kat, when Piper wouldn’t even consider doing something like this; getting in front of a ton of parents (and other kids) to perform. She wanted nothing more than to be next to mommy and was pretty content without ever saying a word; as did Kat. These two girls had so much in common. They were the shiest of the class. They weren’t “trying” to make friends. They’d just assume get through the day and be home with mommy. They were happy being by themselves. The only problem with that was that we knew they needed each other. We could see it.
I didn’t know Kats parents at the time nor did they know us but through Mrs. Miller, we met. We all decided, after seeing the similarities in both of them that they needed to become friends. We knew they were learning well on their own but felt they needed each other in order to really open up, to grow, to bloom. We knew they were meant for each other and I thank Mrs. Miller each and every day for seeing the possibilities in both these girls. I thank her for going above and beyond the “academic realm” of learning to see that emotionally, our girls would benefit more throughout the year by being together. Thank you Mrs. Miller- for being the Best Teacher In the whole world-Ever!!!
Do you have a teacher that you feel so fondly of? One that you think should be rewarded for being “The best teacher ever?” Well, here’s your chance.
Check out this video of “The Magical Classroom” on YouTube to get a taste for what technology is all about. When you’re done with that; head over to http://www.smartloveoflearning.com where you’ll see what the whiteboard offers through sensational technology for the learning environment and through dedicated teachers who share SMART’s passion for learning. This technology becomes a powerful and meaningful tool for both teachers and students.
SMART Technologies is proud to announce the launch of “SMART Love of Learning.” It acknowledges and celebrates all of the teachers who have impacted individuals around the world, and it all comes down to one simple question:
“Who do you think is the best teacher in the world?”
Here’s your chance to nominate a teacher and enter to win a SMART Board interactive whiteboard for your child’s school (or a school of your choice!). Simply click on the “WIN” tab to at www.facebook.com/SMARTloveoflearningCDN.
As you can tell by my post; I nominated Mrs. Miller. She is one fantastic teacher. She saw that my daughter and Kat needed more than curriculum. They needed a friend and to this day, they have continued to blossom. They love school. They love learning and most of all—they love each other!!!!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention- Mrs. Miller also made a monster out of Patience (LOL). Yes, she taught her before teaching Piper. We just knew that if she could bring the animal out in Patience, who knew what she’d do with and for Piper…
Okay, so after you’ve made a visit to the site and entered to win; please consider joining the facebook group so that you too will be able to take advantage of the Parent’s toolkit which helps give tips to those parents who want to raise money so they can get a SMART Board interactive whiteboard for their school.
Disclosure: On behalf of Mom Central through SMART Board interactive whiteboard; I was gifted with a Gift card for participating in this campaign. The thoughts and written example of a teacher nominated is my own. Thank you.

What a nice post! I hope my daughter gets a Mrs. Miller kind of teacher when she starts pre-k this fall!

Thank you Renee…I hope she does too. I mean really, Mrs. Miller is one teacher that deserves a medal for breaking my child out of a very quite mold. There is no teacher like her and although my girls have had some great teachers since, I still love Mrs. Miller for everything she did for and with my girls. She’s amazing!!!
