Yoursphere Status Update

Yoursphere banner It is official. The girls began their summer vacation at exactly 1pm (CST) May 26th, 2010, yesterday. They will now be home with mom 24/7, playing games on the computer and being kids. Of course, we’ll get out and visit the park every few days since we live right across the street from one, but for now, it’s indoor activities via computer, books, movies, music, arts & crafts, etc. At least for the next couple of days.

Anyways; because they’ll be staying indoors with me for a few days. Patience has already called dibs on using the computer in the morning to get on Yoursphere. She loves this space she calls hers. I’m pretty proud of her because although she hasn’t been able to get on very often (computer issues), when she does, she takes advantage of the situation and goes hog wild with friend requests, building her own spheres and now, playing games in the “our world” sphere (Exclusive to Yoursphere members). It’s a virtual private gaming community for verified Yoursphere members only. If you can’t tell already; I really love this place!!!

In “our world” Patience had grown a very strong liking to games like Aqua Bubble, Fur balls and magic pen. She’s doing pretty good too and earning those gems. Oh yeah, and she love, love, loves Turtle Odyssey 2. I can’t complain too much; I’m a sucker for online games and Turtle Odyssey is one of my favorites. Oh, and for you bejeweled 2 fanatics…they’ve got that too. The more kids play, the more points they earn. With those points, they can buy virtual rewards for their characters too. I’m telling you, the whole site is rewarding, fun and entertaining. My girls agree with me 100%.

My girls have been getting a real kick out of the spheres. Patience even made her own. It’s called “little me”. She’s not really sure what else to add to it at this time, but she’s learning and I’m ready when she needs my help. Right now she’s being a little stubborn (which is okay). She wants to show me that she can do these things on her own. She’s been reading other kid’s spheres and learning about blogging, commenting and the whole “participating” thing. Besides that. She’s got her eyes on a few rewards that she can earn just by participating, inviting friends and having fun; so, she’s trying her best to do as much as she can each time she gets online. She’s already at 150 credits. You need more than that to get a prize, but she’s trying very hard and that’s what really counts for me. She’s sticking to it.

Piper, well, she’s watching her sister mostly. She does get on and participate but she’s always in need of a little guidance. Sis has to help her with a few spelling words and such but for the most part- she’d doing pretty good too. She loves that she’s got friends and they write to her. Funny thing; she asked me if she could get on the computer the other day because she wanted to see if any of her “pen pals” wrote to her. It was cute and I couldn’t help but smile. Of course- we got on, she gained a few more friends and was pretty much content for the rest of the day. I helped her PM a few of her new friends to say thank you for the invite and explained, to her, that this was a proper and nice thing to do (that way they’d continue to write her again). She’s learning.

So, since the last time I wrote, has anyone joined? I know my daughter’s have received a few friend requests from the wonderful kids of other moms participating in this test drive, but I wasn’t sure if any of you had decided to join in the fun. Patience thinks it’s really cool. She told me she feels like me now; meeting people from all over the place and being able to talk to them, play games with them and most importantly, share interests with them. For an 8 year old girl, she’s proving to be a very computer savvy young lady (learns from the best- LOL). So, as I was saying…If you haven’t done so yet. Joining is completely free, and it’s totally secure and kid friendly. I personally have never felt this comfortable with my kids being online while I’m in the other room (a few feet away, but still). The fact that I can get on the computer in the living room, log into my parent account and see where she’s been makes me feel comforted. I really hope that many of you will decide to join. I’ll even get my daughter to send your child a friend request so that they start out with a friend as soon as they sign up…you’ll just have to contact me via email so that we can keep their names secure. I’d really love to see Patience meet your kids. I think it’d totally “rock”!!!

Okay…enough badgering (it’s the kids, they do that to me-LOL). If you decide to sign up; please consider using my referral code: YSMC-0016. This referral code is used for nothing more than to find out how you found them. That way, Mom Central and Yoursphere can see if this test drive is working to benefit the site or not- completely understandable really. See you there!!!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere. I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review.
