Ghost Hunters International Season 1 Part 1 (Review)

This is some scary stuff. I’m still quivering in my pants…seriously.

How do you feel about ghosts/ghost stories? Do you have a hard time believing them? Have you ever felt like you’ve seen a ghost? I’ll tell you a story my mom told me in a minute, but first…

My husband and CJ are ghost story addicts. They can watch episode after episode of Ghost Hunters International and still want more. They eat these stories up and never flinch for a second. Me, well, let’s just say that I’m quite the opposite. If I even hear a ghost story (no matter what time-a-day you tell it) I’ll be spooked for weeks. I can’t even imagine something scary or I’ll wig out.

I tried as hard as I could to sit and watch every episode but I just couldn’t. Each time they started investigating a new site I freaked. Hub and CJ laughed and I ran into the other room. I had chores to do and dinner to prepare anyways. When I was done with that; I had girls to bathe and bedtime stories to read. Oh yeah, I even had my own shower to take…LOL. I did watch some of them. They boys gave me details of the ones I didn’t see and I’m still scared. But, if you are a ghost story fan I think you’re gonna love this. It’s commercial free (obviously) and has many of the great shows you saw in season one only you’ll get to see some of the deleted scenes that weren’t viewed on your TV.

Do any of you have a ghost story of your own? I do and I’d like to share it with you…

My mother told my sisters & I of a story when she was younger. It was just my grandmother, my uncle and my mother. They lived in a very small town in Texas. My grandmother worked in the cotton fields during the day. My mother usually accompanied my grandmother to work. As she got a little older; going with my grandmother lessened.

One night, after a long days work, she decided to go to bed early. My uncle was out with his friends and my grandmother was already asleep. She had worked in the field all day and was tired. Just as my mother began drifting off to sleep she heard a tap at her bedroom window. She didn’t think much of it because my uncle was known for playing pranks on her. Besides, she was too tired to get up and investigate so she ignored it and went to sleep. That’s the night it all began.

She woke the next morning forgetting all about the tapping at her window the night before. It wasn’t until the next evening, when it started happening again, that she remembered what she heard the night before. Only this time everyone was home and in bed. Being just a little scared, she looked out her window but she couldn’t see anything or anyone. She said she laid back down and about ten minutes passed when she heard the taps again. She looked out the window for the second time and saw nothing. By this time she was getting a little scared so she decided she’d tell my grandmother the next morning. Sorry, but if that was me I’d be screaming through the house and looking for the nearest closet to hide in. I don’t fool around when I hear creepy things like that and I definitely don’t “wait it out till morning”…are you kidding? I’ll be the first to tell you I saw or heard something scary.

Anyways; the next morning she went outside to see if she could find any hint of what went on the night before. She saw a lot of rocks outside her window, but, that was it. There weren’t even footprints near by. My mother started thinking. She wasn’t sure why this was happening but that she knew it wasn’t going on during the day- only at night. She said she remembered grandma piling some rocks by the tree in their front yard a few days before but that she still couldn’t understand why the rocks were flying at her window. She said it just didn’t make sense.

After a few days of hearing the taps on her window, she decided to tell my grandmother. Mainly because she was convinced that someone was playing a trick on her and she was tired of it. Well, she said my grandmother freaked. My grandmother said they needed to be moved immediately and that the rocks were disturbing the person buried beneath the tree. Yeah, my grandmother told my mother that who ever was buried there long ago was at peace (until the rocks were piled on top of them). She told my mom that in order to get the rock throwing to stop they had to move the pile, and that’s exactly what they did.

Now, before you start thinking I’m crazy- my mother believed ever wives tale there ever was. She was afraid of black cats. It was so bad that if she left town to see her family and forgot something she was supposed to bring; she wouldn’t go back. She’d rather deal with an argument then to return home after she left town. She said it was bad luck and that you’d be dealt a bad hand for returning. She never left her purse on the floor because she said it made you poor. I could go on forever; she was a funny, superstitious little lady and I love her so much.

Anyways (where was I)…

That evening- my mother, grandmother and uncle were out there moving rocks from one side of the tree to the other. It took most of the night but they got it done. The next night when my mother listened for those rocks being tossed at her window, nothing happened. It was quite.

She told me that she never believed in stuff like ghosts and spirits and hauntings until she lived through that. She still gets chills when she tells us about that story. I guess you can say I do too.

Okay- so don’t forget to get out there and purchase your DVD today. I think you’ll enjoy it as much as my family did. I know it worked for me. I’m still scared and will be for a while.

Have a great night, oh, and feel free to share a story you have. I’m sure we’d all enjoy hearing about it.

Disclosure: I was sent a DVD copy of Ghost Hunters International, through LBI (Lost Boys International), for the purpose of my review. Receiving product does not influence my opinion nor does it act as payment on their behalf. Thank you.
