What an Amazing Road Trip

Hi everyone- we’re home! ;)

We actually arrived at 4:30 am yesterday and I couldn’t wait to write, unfortunately- I was far too tired to write yesterday. This morning has been pretty hectic too; trying hard to catch up on laundry, cleaning and entertaining my kids.

So, here’s the reason for my absence the last few days.

My husband had a work related trip. He owns his own business in the Taxidermy industry and needed to deliver a huge shipment to one of his clients. It was a little unexpected really (not the trip…the family going with him). He was supposed to be taking the trip solo but decided at the last minute to take advantage of the kid’s summer vacation. On Wednesday night he asked if we’d all go with him. My first reaction was, “Are you crazy?!@.” but then I saw how excited the girls were about going on a trip and decided we needed to go. Besides, this would be the very first family road trip ever taken.

Before the fun could begin, Hub and I had to work straight through the next few days. It was going to take an enormous amount of power to get all the jobs done before leaving. We needed to push through, together, and finish up any last minute jobs (stuffing pillows, last minute sewing, etc.). We managed to get everything done by 4:30AM on Saturday morning. We laid down for a snooze (about two hours). At 7:15AM the alarm went off. It was time to go, so, we loaded up the family and headed out.

Here’s a few pictures of our trip: We left Corpus at 8:AM, hit Houston then Louisiana; finally entering Arkansas at 8:00PM. Now mind you- it really wasn’t that eventful going to. These are pictures taken from the truck.

Entering Arkansas

Now, what should have been a ten hour trip turned into twelve long hours. Luckily, the kids were excited about the whole experience that they didn’t mind. The thing that saved hub and I was that we did have to stop a couple thousand times for restroom, drive through eats and gas tank fillers. The trip to Arkansas was surprisingly very fun.

For those wondering what part of Arkansas we visited; El Dorado (Pretty Place)…

Once we arrived at the clients house; we unloaded the truck and trailer. Set up all the animals where they needed to be. We chatted for a little while and then it was off to finding a hotel for the night. This is the part where the girls got really excited. Can you believe; the girls were more excited about sleeping in a hotel room than anything else. They were already making plans to watch TV for, shower and then when they were ready they’d head to bed. But, none of this could happen until they had their dinner (like they hadn’t already eaten enough on the trip).

We weren’t familiar with the area so we decided to “wing it”. After about twenty minutes of driving around in circles, we came across an EconoLodge and decided this was as good as any. We were tired, hungry and oh so ready for sleep. It wasn’t our first choice, but it worked.

By the time we ate dinner, showered and settled into the room I really began going through internet withdrawals. The only problem- I was just too tired. I even had access to Wi-Fi in the hotel room (that aught to tell you how tired I was). I could have written my posts on the way to Arkansas and then posted something the minute I had access…but I was too busy seeing all the gorgeous trees and different sceneries. Basically speaking- there just wasn’t enough time.

All and all; the trip to Arkansas was amazing. We had so much fun driving across state lines and being together!
