2 Book Giveaway- 1 winner
| September 1, 2010 | Posted by barb under Books, Giveaways |
I haven’t written a book review in a while (and with good reason). Between trying to relax with a good book in hand and trying to keep the kids from starving for attention- time can get away from you. Every once in a while I’d look over and see the books looking back at me saying, “read me, read me”. LOL.
But as it turned out, I was only able to read a paragraph from one and maybe another 2-3 paragraphs from the other. It’s driving me crazy because they’re both great (from what I’ve read) and I plan on getting caught up on my work as soon as humanly possible so that I might be able to sit and finish one of the titles before too long.
With this said; I’ve got a couple of books to give away. My PR’s have a copy of each; waiting to send to one lucky reader at Blogfully. As usual; it’s not a collection of one set genre. We try to mix it up a bit. To help broaden your love for reading.
In no set order; the book titles we have up for grabs are…

My Thoughts:
Who doesn’t like a good thriller every once in a while. It can take you places your mind wouldn’t normally go. I personally love Marjorie’s style of writing. She’s a fantastic author who knows just how to grab the reader’s attention and take them through a ringer of emotional unbalance. Her fictional stories are intense; which makes it very hard to put down. And…as Angela Knight (New York Times Bestselling Author, praises, “Marjorie Liu’s writing is both lyrical and action packed, which is a very rare combination.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
by: Lawrence Meyer
ISBN: 9781449971434
Release Date: May 15, 2010
ARP: $26.00
Paperback: 683 pages
Genre: Fiction (a Novel)
About the Book (Synopsis):
The Final Edition is the product of more than ten years of writing and scrupulous research by veteran Washington Post reporter and editor Lawrence Meyer, who personally stood on history’s stage as he reported events that shaped our country. Meyer has written a paean to newspapers, bringing immediacy, accuracy and deep insight to the pages of his sweeping epic. He shows not just the stress, excitement and difficult moral choices of “the Fourth Estate,” but also the essential role of an honest newspaper in a free society.
About The Author:
Lawrence Meyer is a veteran, award-winning newspaper reporter and editor. He spent thirty-two years at The Washington Post, where he witnessed many of the twentieth century’s most dramatic events. During the 1970s, he covered the attempted assassination of Governor George C. Wallace, the Watergate break-in trial, the Senate Watergate hearings, and the subsequent impeachment proceedings against President Richard Nixon. His intimate familiarity with the thinking and politics at the heart of a great American newspaper lends remarkable accuracy and immediacy to The Final Edition. Meyer has published three other books. His second novel, False Front, was nominated for the American Book Award.

My Thoughts:
WOW!! What else is there to say? Just reading the synopsis aught to grab you alone, but let me reiterate…WOW!!! This book was intense.
You could feel the story happening as you turned the page. You can feel the pressures, stresses and grief; the rewarding moments as well as the devastating ones. The frustrations of wanting to build a column (as a woman) in a time when women didn’t have their place in it (especially in the political, racial and ethical department).
It’s definitely a book to read; especially if history (and the likes) are you’re love and passion.
How would you like a chance to win two great books? Are you interested?
