I’ve talked to Patience and Piper a time or two – only sharing bits and pieces of what to expect from your period – but never anything so deep that they’ve really learned everything there is to know about it.
After all, It’s really hard to think of your little girl as a young lady. It’s even harder to accept the fact that she’s growing up fast and that soon you’ll have to sit her down and talk about getting her first period, going through puberty, and all the other stuff that goes with it.
I think I was about 11 when I got my first period; I can’t remember. I can’t even remember if my mother and I had the “period talk” before it happened, however. I want my girls to know what to expect before it happens. I want them to know that they can ask me anything about their period (and puberty) without thinking twice about it.
That said…
I was invited to take part in the U by Kotex Mom Ambassador program, and as such, I will (over the next six months) be embarking on some pretty deep conversations with my girls, about getting their period. I will also be sharing, with you, information about the U by Kotex tween product line, and I’ll be discussing – in more depth – the importance of hygiene and maintenance (to be discussed with your daughter) while having their period…as well as insights into the warning signs that could help your daughter understand that her period may be coming.
I’m actually very excited about taking part in this program. I have been a user of Kotex since I could remember. It was the brand my mother introduced to me and will be the one brand I introduce to my daughters.
Oh yes, and as a bonus, there will be a giveaway for special U by Kotex products too. I hope you’ll stick around for all of it.
If you’re nervous about how your daughter might feel when you start this conversation, check out Aimee Teegarden Gets Real (by Kotex & Nickelodeon ParentsConnect). She makes talking to your daughter so much easier…
If you’re preparing to have The Talk with your daughter(s), I encourage you to visit Kotex. They’ve put together such an amazing site for talks and tips and tips and talks…about the talk. You’ll get the story of Menstruation, tips on preparing for the talk with your daughter, ways to talk to your daughter about hygiene during her period, and so much more.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate
