With the Olympic trials well under way (you are watching them, right?), the girls, dad and I have been sharing a lot more “late-night” TV time.

Last night’s Olympic trials were especially nice because not only was it their favorite sport (gymnastics), just hours earlier the girls and I hosted a pre-screening get together for the movie American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars (set to release on 7/3).

We all had a great time. Patience and Piper were able to get a few friends to break away from their own summer plans to join us for some fun entertainment, food and drinks.

The movie American Girl was amazing. The cast was fantastic. Everyone loved McKenna and Josey (the gymnast and the tutor)…and by the end of the movie every one of the girls was pumped about signing up for gymnastics…and if I was about two decades younger I’d be pretty pumped about signing up for gymnastics too.

Overall, and all funnin’ aside, the movie was a huge hit. It’s a movie about friendship. It’s about overcoming challenges – together with family and friends – without feeling like you’re all alone.
