The Amazing Nurses Contest from Johnson & Johnson

by barb on June 19, 2012

When I was laid up in the hospital for 5 days last June, the only thing that kept me from going completely insane (besides my wonderful mother at my bedside) was the amazing nurse that was in charge of taking care of me. Shame on me for not remembering her name, but she was an absolute angel. The best nurse I’ve ever had.

The nurse that took care of me (having to change my IV every day, making sure my meds were given on time, comforting me, joking and carrying on with me) was a small Indian woman with a strong accent and a great big beautiful smile. She had a nack for keeping everyone (even the other nurses) in good spirits. And despite my circumstances for being there, I’m glad I was able to know her. She really made being sick not so bad.

Amazing Nurses 2012

If you have an amazing nurse that deserves the praise and a chance to attend the 2012 CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute Show in Los Angeles, consider entering the Amazing Nurses Contest (last day to nominate is 6/29).

*****Here’s Something You Might Not Have Known*****

The healthcare field is experiencing a severe shortage of nurses; there is currently a nationwide vacancy of over 100,000 positions, and that number is expected to grow to 800,000 by the year 2020

The upside…a 20011 Gallup Poll announced that the public voted nurses number one for “honesty and ethical standards of various professions” for the 8th consecutive year. **The Winning Nurse** will also be featured on the Nursing Community, Nursing Notes - by Johnson & Johnson, on Facebook

If you ask me – I think we’re in desperate need of more nurses (and other healthcare professionals). I get weak in the knees if I see blood so I can never do anything ‘medical’ but if you know someone who should be a nurse, who’s always dreamed of being a nurse, now’s the time to encourage them to move forward with their dream. Let them know that they’re greatly needed and play an important role in our entire healthcare system.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Johnson & Johnson and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate
