I can’t say I’ve been able to read every book on my table – front to back – 100% yet. But I’m working on it.
So far Havana Requiem has been the only thriller on my list, which is okay because I like a good thriller. The rest of the titles are more of (what I call) read-by-chapter books…meaning, I don’t have to read front to back. I can jump from chapter to chapter without getting lost in the pages. I like those type of reads; mainly because Lord knows It’s hard to get me to isolate myself with a book anymore. The girls don’t let that happen. Now a days it’s a kids title or no title at all (LOL).
The following books are great reads. Again, I haven’t read any of them 100% thru but I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’ve let my mind absorb so far. I hope you’ll find interest in a title or two.
All books are available now (unless otherwise noted) and can be found on Amazon and at other mass book stores.
This first book is one that I found to be a good one (I’m still reading it). I like this book because I too suffer from OCD and it’s hard to concentrate on anything else when you’ve got your mind fixated on doing one thing. It’s like your under a spell.
I don’t have any crippling behaviors associated with my OCD but none-the-less, I can still relate to, find humor in and enjoy reading Dr. Annabelle R. Charbit’s first novel A Life Lived Ridiculously.
A Life Lived Ridiculously
By Dr Annabelle R. Charbit
SRP: $14.95 US / $18.95 CAN
ISBN: 978-0-9846428-6-1
Synopsis:
When a girl with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder falls in love with a sociopath, she must fight for her sanity and her life.
Maxine’s brain is stuck. Everything around her feels wrong and the only way to fix it is to check, double-check, rearrange, and count everything. What Maxine can’t fix though is her parents constant nagging over the absence of a husband. A humiliation that is further compounded when her younger brother runs off with Miss Perfect.
Then she meets Sam, a smooth-talking charmer with the weight of the world on her shoulders, and enough terminal diseases to wipe out a small village. Maxine decides that Sam is her salvation, never mind that his life is more depressing than a Greek tragedy, and others are urging her to get away from him. The problem is that Sam has Maxine under his spell. Will Maxine escape from Sam before it’s too late?

This next book is, for me, very very interesting as I have never lived with an “addiction” so hard-hitting that I couldn’t walk away from it. I smoked cigarettes for many years but walked away from that habit (for good) last year, after my hysterectomy. I drank alcohol too, on occasion, but again, it wasn’t something hard for me to walk away from (more than a year now).
Tales Of Addiction and inspiration for recovery is a truly heart-felt, heart-warming & heart-wrenching book; filled with stories of pains and conflict – associated with addictions – and ultimately to one’s path to recovery…whether through suicide or though their own determination to make changes in their life, on earth.
Whether you’ve struggled through addictions or not, this book is highly recommended. I found the stories to be so touching and – at times – inspiring to those who may be hoping to walk on that path to recovery.
Tales of Addiction and Inspiration for Recover

SRP:$21.95
ISBN: 978-1-61599-037-5

The author collected the stories for over two years through a “call for stories” she put in journals, workshops and lectures. Interwoven throughout, Barbara and her son share their own story of pain and struggle.
In this book you’ll learn: How an addict’s life begins, understand the difficulties in taking initial steps to uncover denial, intimate details of how many stay straight and sober, Gain a new perspective about our national addiction population, learn why that something more means so much to so many, what happens when the addict or alcoholic loses their battle and last but not least – how you can help.

Using your body to heal your mind…sounds simple enough, right? People do it all the time – even without thinking about it. I’ve heard in church even that if you want to see something happen you must first visualize the outcome. If you’re always thinking bad thoughts, bad things follow you. Same with good things. Same with positive thoughts and their outcomes. It’s all…for a lack of better words…in your mind.
I really loved reading this next book by Henry Grayson, PH.D. It’s awesome (especially the questionnaires) and one that I recommend you check out. Who knows…it might be just the book you’ve been looking for to help your body to “heal your mind.”
Using Your Body To Heal Your Mind
Revolutionary methods to release all barriers to health, healing and happiness
By Henry Grayson, Ph.D.
SRP:$20.99
ISBN: 978-1-4525-4503-5
Synopsis:
Unlike television talk show psychology, which relies upon superficial stories, Use Your body to Heal Your Mind dives into the guilt-ridden waters of our deepest traumas that are often hidden from our conscious minds. He works to clear away these blocks through techniques that have been proven effective on combat veterans battling post-traumatic stress disorder as on civilians plagued by depression, chronic illness, and disorders previously thought to be untreatable. The result is more than a return to good health- it is the understanding that we deserve health and happiness and have the tools to make it possible.

This next read can be summed up as a book of very sore subjects…for lots of people. About Health Care (or the lack of).
I have no health insurance. I deal with some pretty serious ailments because I can’t afford to seek out a good doctor. I need surgery (among other things) but I simply can’t do it. But enough about me. The question is, would I recommend this book? Absolutely. To one and all – even if you’re not against ObamaCare, have private insurance and can afford to see a doctor without any help.
This book is a very interesting read and a definite eye opener to what we’re facing with the current health care situation.

Okay…so now that we’ve taken care of all the serious titles…how about turning our attention to an interesting legal thriller? A fiction book that’s sure to be an unforgettable read.
Havana Requiem
By Paul Goldstein
SRP:$26.00
ISBN: 978-0-8090-5393-3
Synopsis:
Fueled by alcohol and legal brilliance, Michael Seeley once oversaw his law firm’s most successful litigation, until it all fell apart. Recklessness and over reach cost him his wife, his job, and likely the life of his last client, a Chinese dissident journalist. Havana Requiem, the latest Seeley novel from the acclaimed author Paul Goldstein, opens after a year’s sobriety has earned Seeley back most of what he lost: the partnership in his Manhattan law firm, if not his corner office; the wary respect of most of his partners; the lucrative clients – but not the gin-sharpened passion.
Then the renowned Cuban musician Hector Reynoso enters his office with a simple request: help him and other composers who defined Cuba’s musical golden age of the 1940s and 50s – the music that made the Buena Vista Social Club internationally famous – reclaim the copyright to their work. When Reynosos goes missing, Seeley’s reluctant promise to help draws him progressively deeper into Havana’s violent underbelly and a decades-long conspiracy that runs from the partners in his firm to the U.S. State Department to Cuba’s security police, who are willing to do anything to suppress the truth. in the heat of Havana, Seeley will lose himself to his worst and best passions as his pursuit of justice becomes a desperate gambit to save not only his composers but the stunning Amaryll, who is playing her own dangerous game.
