The Smurfs and the Magic Flute DVD Review

by barb on July 12, 2012

Ever since the release of the Smurf’s movie last year, the girls have been obsessed with watching the Smurf’s series on Boomerang.Their favorite Smurf is (of course) Smurfette, but they love all of them…even Papa Smurf.

We received a copy of the latest Smurf’s movie – The Smurfs And The Magic Flute . It doesn’t hit Store shelves until August 14th, 2012 but we were able to check it out early.

I’d say the movie was pretty good. I like Sir Johan and Peewit (remember them?). The girls didn’t get into watching the show until the Smurfs showed their little faces. They liked the movie, but said it took too long for the Smurfs to come out into the opened [from the time the movie starts until the second a Smurf is shown - it seems like 15-20 minutes]. So, if you can keep your kids interested in the movie until then, you’re all set.

In The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, a magical flute is just what Court Jester Peewit needs to play delightful tunes that make everyone in the kingdom dance – until the dancing turns dangerous. Sir Johan tries in vain to recover the musical instrument, but a thief named McCreep beats him to it, intending to use the flute to steal gold from the King’s subjects. It’s the Smurfs to the rescue when Papa Smurf devises a plan to create a second magical flute, and Peewit and Sir Johan go on a great adventure to find McCreep, win the musical duel and save the kingdom.

About The Smurfs:

The story of the Smurfs – a property created by Peyo – started in 1958 with the creation of comic books which were later brought to the big screen and on television. Over the years, the little blue characters haven’t just limited themselves to the page and the screen. The Smurfs have inspired records and CDs that have sold millions of copies, entire collections of figurines and toys, and many more products. In all, more than 3,000 derived products have been produced and leading brands and companies have spread their messages worldwide with the help of the Smurfs.

I loved the Smurfs when I was little, and now they are back for our kids! Too funny :)

It’s crazy how they’re bringing all our childhood cartoons back for our kids (some good ones too). Do you remember the Snorks? That show is on Boomarang too. I’m still waiting for the station to roll out He-Man :)

I LOVED the Snorks! I still remember the theme song :)
He-Man and She-rah definitely need to be revived!
