We miss Jager already

We’re missing our baby boy so much right now…

Missing Jager 2

Missing Sweet Jager

…and it’s because he’ll be gone for 2 weeks, home for 1, gone for 2 weeks, home for 1, etc., etc., for the next few months, or until his obedient / competition training is complete.

I didn’t think I’d miss him this much, but I do. He’s such a fun, loving, playful kind of dog with the cutest face and the wettest nose ever!!!

I know he’s going to be okay but I can’t help but think we’ve stressed him out…taking him away from what he knows: his crate, his “blanky,” his toys, and…well…most importantly, his family. Over there he’s got strict trainers, a big opened – lonely – kennel with only one kennel mate, no blanky and no us. :( I just hope he doesn’t think we’ve abandoned him.

I know that he’ll be okay, but I sure do miss the big guy!

This is our first family dog so I’m feeling what a new mommy feels when sending her baby off to Kinder for the first time…CRAZY!!!!

Have you had to do this with your pet before? How did you feel? Am I over reacting?

Barbs SIG

PS- hope you guys are having a great 1st Sunday of 2013!!!

Aww I bet you miss him. He’s so cute, but he’ll be great when you get him back, I think its very cool that you are able to send him to training like this though. I don’t think you are over-reacting though, you are a Mommy, that’s all. Even to a pet. I miss my pup when they aren’t with me and we are traveling (I call her a pup, but she’s 8 years old, lol). Big HUGS! =)

    • LOL…we call Jager poops, poopers, booboo, and the likes. He answers to all of them :)

It’s definitely tough to have apart from us. Even though we’ve only had him for three months, he’s already a HUGE part of our family.

  • Heather!

I’m actually a bit surprised to read this. What kind of training, exactly, is it? I have always thought that training was supposed to be done either BY you or WITH you, so that he understands who’s the boss. Plus, a dog bonds with the person with whom he’s ‘working’. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a ‘doggie sleep-away camp’.

But I can imagine how much you guys miss him! I have left my dogs with my parents in the past so that I could go on a trip or, when I was in college, study for finals without interruptions. But I missed them terribly! I certainly hope the weeks fly by for you so you can have Jager back, all obedient and sweet as ever!

    • My husband is able to visit as often as he’d like. I stay home because if I went with him I’d want to smuggle Jager back home. :)

Yeah, not sure how the whole training thing works but for this one, he stays there…the trainer is one of my husband’s friends so I trust their work, but I still want my baby back home.

I bet he’ll be amazing (er) than ever before – LOL!!! I think I might have to buy him one of those special cakes from a doggie sweet-treat shops or something.

  • Oh, this would absolutely break my heart!! I could not imagine sending my dog off without their favorites. That is so sad! Why do they do it like that…is it like boot camp for soldiers?! :( This makes me want to cry!!

    • LOL…yes, it’s sad. It’s taken me everything I have not to cry – but I sure am looking at A LOT of pictures that I’ve taken of him since he came to our house 3 months ago. :)

There’s a storm coming on Tuesday night and the girls are so afraid for Jager because they know he’s afraid of thunder…that and he’s in an outside kennel – not inside like he is at home. The girls are freaking out (I am too I guess). :(

      We miss our baby!!!

I had to do this with our dog once. It killed me to send him to “college”. But when he came back it was great! He was a very well trained dog.

    • We went to the doctors this morning – for both girls – Hub went with us. While we were waiting to be called back at each office, we sat there and shared pictures of Jager between hub’s and my phone. :)

I’m looking forward to the well trained boy he will become but I’m so sad not having him now – it’s killing me too. I can’t think of anything else except for him.
